Legs Brand Builders PTY LTD Hybrid Work Policy

Effective Date 

This policy is effective as of 10 August 2022.

Purpose

This is an outline of Legs Brand Builders PTY LTD hybrid work policy. We are a hybrid company that allows for work in-office or remotely on a flexible or permanent basis. This policy applies to all full-time employees.

Key Terms 

‘Remote work’ is defined as working during an employee’s working hours  anywhere outside of our office, located at Langaford Estate, 1 Old Main Road, Frasers, Ballito, KZN, South Africa

In-office Expectations 

Employees are expected to attend team-building events at the nearest location to their residence twice per year except if the employee lives outside of South Africa. All travel-related expenses will be reimbursed by Legs Brand Builders PTY LTD. Outside of the twice-yearly team-building events, employees do not have any required time commitments for being in office. 

Surf On Work Off

Employees are allowed to go surfing when the waves are going off. Due to the nature of the ocean and the constant changes in the wave quality, employees may go surfing at a moment's notice if it does not conflict with the interests of Legs Brand Builders PTY LTD. This will have to be approved by the superior manager prior to going for a surf. The employee may request this with the superior manager via email, phone call or Whatsapp. Once approved, a formal email will have to be sent for recording purposes. The employee cannot go for a surf longer than 2.5 hours and will have to catch up either the hours spent surfing the day of when the surf took place or make sure the task at hand is completed. The catching up of hours will have to be done during the evening if need be. This cannot be used more than twice per week.

4.5 Day Work Week Every Fortnight

Employees have the option to work a 9-hour day in exchange for a half-day every second Friday (work ends at 12pm). This allows our employees to have a healthy work/life balance. This will have to be discussed and approved by the Founder before this perk is applied.

Tools + Support 

All employees will be granted a $500 yearly stipend for home office-related expenses like furniture, technology or WIFI. Employees must submit a request for the stipend through their manager. All employees who choose to work from home will use their personal laptops & must supply their own WiFi.

Communication
 

While working from home, employees must be available via Slack, Zoom, email, and/or phone during pre-determined working hours in their time zone.  

Employees are responsible for updating the following when working remotely: 

• Update shared Google Calendar with current location and working hours 

• Update Slack away messages and be available to respond within 2 hours 

• Check in with the direct manager at least twice in a given workday


Meetings 

All employees, both remote and in-person are required to attend meetings. If the employee is working from home, they are required to attend via video conferencing. If video conferencing is not available, employees may call in via phone as a secondary option. If an employee is unable to attend a given meeting for reasons remote or otherwise, they must notify their manager or the person hosting the meeting and schedule a debrief with a meeting attendee within 72 hours.

Approval + Tracking 

Employees must notify their manager and team about their in-office hours the week prior.  Employees must document in their shared Google calendar when they are working from home.
